What are Implant
Retained Dentures?

If you have failing teeth or a denture that keeps falling out, an implant retained denture can be an affordable option to regain your smile and function. Unlike full mouth implants implant retained dentures are removable and are not fixed in your mouth. However they offer a much better fit and retention than conventional dentures and can be life changing! No longer do you have to worry about ill fitting dentures falling out of your mouth when talking.

How do Implant Retained Dentures work?

With implant retained dentures, two to three implants are placed which are used to lock in your dentures when in use. The dentures are still removable and whilst implant retained dentures do not offer quite the same functionality as your natural teeth, they are a enormous improvement on conventional dentures.

With the latest revolutionary technology, our specialist surgeon places your new implants with the aid of a digitally designed surgical guide to ensure maximum comfort and healing. The procedure is normally performed in our clinics under either local anaesthetic or I.V sedation, with all steps performed in-house in our large purpose built facilities. We then construct a new removable denture that ‘clicks’ onto these implants providing much needed stability and retention.

The process

Consultation

In this initial consultation we will do an initial assessment of your existing denture or teeth and jaw bone. We will also likely take 3D xrays and digital intraoral scans.

We’ll also listen to you in terms of what you want to achieve for your new smile.

Placing the implants

Based on our comprehensive records, we will have constructed a precise surgical guide that allows the implants to be performed guided.

At this appointment we remove all remaining teeth and place 2 to 3 dental implants.

You will have a temporary denture fitted at this appointment to use during the 3 month healing period.

Final Implant Retained Denture

The final step is to make your final implant retained denture. After the healing period we will place ‘locators’ on top of the healed implants and then start making your final implant denture. This process normally takes 4 to 6 weeks.
